Utrecht II: Charting the future of Parapsychology

The HJBF initiated, funded and organized a conference in Utrecht, the Netherlands that was a tribute to ‘The First International Conference of Parapsychological Studies,’ which was organized by the New York-based Parapsychology Foundation (PF) in the summer of 1953 in Utrecht the Netherlands. From October 15 – 18, 2008 the conference ‘Utrecht II; Charting the Future of Parapsychology’, was held in Utrecht, partly using the same venues as the first conference 55 years ago.

The close cooperation of the Parapsychology Foundation and HJBF in 2008 made this second conference a milestone in the history of parapsychology as a science. Over 90 participants from all corners of the world were invited to come over to Utrecht and share their insights in the field based on two questions: ‘What do we know?’ and ‘Where are we going?’ The proceedings of this conference were published within the proceedings series of the Parapsychology Foundation and can be obtained from their website here. A detailed day to day account of this conference including all PowerPoint presentations can be found on the website of the Parapsychology Foundation here.
